Did you know that Google Assistant can now translate languages on your phone?

Have you ever wanted to talk to someone in another language, but didn’t really know how? I’m talking about speech to speech communication. There are thousands of tourists coming in and out of the world who want to chat with their host country people. But they lack the ability to speak the language fluently. And that’s what makes Google Assistant stand out from all the other apps out there. Google Assistant has been updated to include the ability to translate languages on your phone, translate conversations and tell jokes in different languages. There has never been a better time than now to update it on your iPhone or Android smartphone.

What is Google Assistant?

Google Assistant is like a personal assistant you can use to make your life a little easier. It’s available on all sorts of devices, including smartphones and tablets, so you can take it with you wherever you go. You can activate Google Assistant by saying “OK, Google,” or by pressing the home button on your device. Google Assistant will listen for your question and then provide the answer from the Internet. Thanks to Google Assistant, you never have to worry about forgetting important dates, events, or tasks! You can set up reminders for anything from picking up milk at the grocery store on the way home to seeing a doctor for your annual checkup. Asking for help with things is what Google Assistant is best at. You can ask simple questions like “How’s the weather?” or more complex ones like “Where can I buy a stuffed teddybear in my area?” The more you use it, the better it gets at answering your questions.

How to translate conversations with Google Assistant

If you have never used Google Assistant to translate speech into a different language, do not worry – it is pretty easy. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Open the Google Assistant app on your phone and tap the blue button at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen that looks like a speaker.

  1. Say “Hey Google, be my German translator” or “Hey Google, help me speak French.” You can also just say “Hey Google, I need a translator” and choose from one of the languages listed there.

  1. Once you’ve chosen your language, tap on the microphone next to your screen and start talking! The person you’re talking to will hear what you say translated into their language, and vice versa when they talk back in English (or whichever language you’ve chosen).

Why you might want to do this

You might be thinking, ” Why would I need to translate a conversation that’s happening right in front of me? ” And you’d be right—you probably wouldn’t. But what if you were on a plane, and the person next to you was speaking a foreign language? Or if you were out of town, and the people at your hotel spoke a different dialect than you? Or maybe you just want to learn another language! Google Assistant translator is here to help.
